Before that let us understand briefly, what exactly is "Data Execution Prevention" and why we land up with this error message on our computer.
Data Execution Prevention, in short DEP, is a security feature that comes inbuilt with Microsoft Windows Operating System [it has been introduced with Win XP, Service Pack2] which helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats that attack your computer by running malicious code from memory locations that only Windows and other programs should use. This causes damage by spreading and harming other programs, files, and even your e-mail contacts.
Even though DEP feature claims that it prevents damage from viruses or other security threats, this is nevertheless annoying when it shuts down the windows explorer hampering your work and it can be easily put off or disabled without a second thought, if you have a good anti-virus, firewall and Mozilla Firefox.
This is what you need to do to stop getting that error message:
Click on "Start" menu on your taskbar, go to "My Computer" right click on it and select "Properties"
In the "System Properties" window that opens, under the "Advanced" tab, in the "Startup and Recovery" section, click on "Settings"
In the "Startup and Recovery" window, within "System Startup" section, click on "Edit" button.
A notepad titled "boot.ini" will open. In the code given there, to disable all DEP you need to change this in the last line:
/NoExecute=AlwaysOff
Some systems may have /Execute=Optin (or Optout) replace it with /NoExecute=AlwaysOff
If your system already has /NoExecute=AlwaysOff/Alwayson/optin or optout change it to /NoExecute=AlwaysOff
Note: There is a space before the slash [/]
