If you want to increase the speed with which your folders open or while browsing Wndows Explorer, the ease with which your folders and their contents are displayed, all you need to do is:

Open "My Computer" and in the "Tools" menu, click on "Folder Options"

In the "Folder Options" window, under the "View" tab, in the "Advanced settings" section, uncheck "Automatically search for network folders and printers" followed by clicking on "Apply" and "OK"
