Brief Explanation on IP Address
IP Address or "Internet Protocol Address" is a unique number which is assigned to every computer that is connected on the internet. It consists of four numbers seperated by dots eg. 122.172.0.1 IP address can often be used to identify the region from which a computer is connecting to the Internet, since these numbers are assigned to Internet Service Providers within a particular region. As these numbers are difficult to remember, IP Addresses are assigned Hostnames. IP Addresses are of two kinds: Static and Dynamic. Static IP addresses are the same every time you connect so when a computer uses the same IP address every time it connects to the network, it is known as a Static IP address. They are manually assigned to a computer by an administrator. In contrast, in situations when the computer's IP address changes frequently (such as when a user logs on to a network through dialup or through shared residential cable) it is called a Dynamic IP address. Here an IP address is automatically assigned to a computer by a remote server.
