In the "Run" window, type:
gpedit.msc
and click on "OK"
A "Group Policy Editor" window will open. There, navigate to: Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates \Network\QOS Packet Scheduler In the right pane of the window, double click "Limit reservable bandwidth".
Within "Limit reservable bandwidth Properties" window, under the "Setting" tab you will notice that by default it is set on "Not configured"
If you click on the "Explain" tab next to the "Setting" tab, you will see the reason behind it.
So go back to the "Setting" tab and click on "Enabled". You will notice that the "Bandwidth limit (%)" ia slready set to 20. (which means the system is using upto 20% of your bandwidth)
You can set that "Bandwidth limit (%)" to 0 (zero). Click on "Apply" and "OK"
So finally, you land with 20% more of bandwidth!

ReplyDeleteIf yes, then the group policy editor (gpedit.msc) is not available in XP/Vista - Home.
However, not to worry there. You can solve this issue by downloading the following files:
appmgmts.dll
appmgr.dll
fde.dll
fdeploy.dll
gpedit.msc
Gpedit.dll
gptext.dll
Once done, copy and paste these 7 files in:
C:\Windows\System32
Now download these files:
System.adm
inetres.adm
conf.adm
Once done, copy and paste these 3 files in:
C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Adm (if this directory does not exist create it)
Now close all the windows, go to "Start" followed by "Run" and in the Run window, type each of the following commands, given below, and for every command, click "OK"
regsvr32 Gpedit.dll
regsvr32 fde.dll
regsvr32 gptext.dll
regsvr32 appmgr.dll
regsvr32 fdeploy.dll
This would install the management strategy for Windows XP/Vista Home.
Now you can open the Run window and type: gpedit.msc This would open the group policy editor.

Hi, I use XP-home. And in the first stage of downloading the first 7 files, i couldn't find the right download for the "gpedit.msc" file. Could you possibly give me a link that could assist me in getting that file. I can do the rest after that.

ReplyDeleteI assume that you using the Home Premium edition of win 7? Because gpedit.msc is only in the Ultimate, Professional and Enterprise editions, not in the Home Premium or Basic editions.

ReplyDeleteAs we commented above, if its the Home Premium edition of Windows 7, you won't see the option gpedit.msc, because its not there.
ReplyDeleteHowever if its the other edition, this is what you need to do:
click "start+R". In thr 'Run' dialog box, type: "gpedit.msc" (without quotes) and click on "ok".
In the policy editor window, scroll down to the last option "All Settings". In the right side of the window, locate "Limit the bandwidth of Audio and video", double click on it, and disable it by clicking on the "disable" radio button.
Next locate, "Limit the size of sent file" and disable it too.
Click on "OK" and close the window. Reboot and there should be marked improvement in the internet efficiency (your download speed and overall bandwidth performance).

thank you... anyone using windows 7 (whichever bit) can still use the files ur supposed to download. when u wanna copy the dll files and it ask u to overwrite and u say yes but it tells u u dont have permission, ignore and skip, those dll files are already in win7. when u get to the part where u type the stuff in run when u click ok, sometimes an error message comes ignore it and press ok. thanx
